Food Assistance

Food security is essential for college students to thrive. Explore the information below to learn about food resources available throughout Minnesota and across the country.

Tommie Shelf

Tommie Shelf is a grocery giveaway that partners with two local non-profit ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ partners to bring two monthly grocery giveaways to campus.

Tommie Shelf partners with Keystone Community Services on the St. Paul campus, and Good in the ’Hood on the Minneapolis campus to give away shelf-stable food and fresh produce to members of the St. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½.

Kitchen Coalition

Through a partnership with Kitchen Coalition and Second Harvest Heartland, students have access to free, healthy, ready-to-eat meals that are microwave-ready. On the St. Paul campus, these meals are available in the Off-Campus Student Life Lounge in Anderson Student Center, which follows the same operating hours as the ASC. The meals can be stored in the freezer for up to three months and are restocked every Tuesday during the lunch hour.

On the Minneapolis campus, freezer meals are available every Wednesday. They are placed in a portable rolling freezer located in the hallway outside Cornerstone Kitchen on the 2nd floor.

Meal Swipes

This program supports food security by providing meal swipes to St. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ students who may not have access to food while on campus. Students can request a limited number of complimentary meal swipes to use at The View, The Northsider, or Cornerstone Kitchen. The Dean of Students Office reviews all requests and will follow up with students regarding their meal access.

Twin Cities Mobile Market

The Twin Cities Mobile Market bus brings a full selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, grains and other high-quality groceries to more than 25 sites around St. Paul and Minneapolis.

The bus visits neighborhoods that don’t have access to full-service supermarkets, grocery stores, or food shelves.

Fare for All

Fare For All buys fresh fruits, vegetables, and frozen meat in bulk to save you up to 40% off grocery store prices.

Fare For All is ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ supported, open to everyone, and has thirty locations in the greater Twin Cities metro area where our food packages are sold once a month. All our locations are cash and carry – there is no need to register in advance.
