Move In
Welcome to Fall 2025 move in and your on-campus living and learning experience. Students will receive additional information regarding move in specifics around the beginning of August.
New students will likely find these tips most helpful, but the information is applicable to our returning students as well.
- Communication is key. Begin connecting with your roommate(s) to prepare for move in and living in ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½. Discuss who is bringing/purchasing/renting certain items to share, how you can best communicate with each other, and be prepared to complete a roommate agreement shortly after move in.
- Pack your items utilizing LABELED suitcases (with wheels if possible), large bags, sealed boxes or tote bins, and bring your own hand cart if necessary. The goal is to complete the move to your room in one trip from vehicle to room.
- NO trailers, box trucks, oversized vehicles will be allowed on campus.
- Review the Guide to Sustainable Living for action items for a sustainable move-in (pg 6).
What To Bring & What Not To Bring
- Floor and desk fans are helpful to help cool and/or move air around the room
- Lightweight vacuum, cleaning wipes/sprays, and paper towels to clean the room every 1-2 weeks. This will help limit germs and allergens in the room. It is common for college students to experience cold/flu/allergy symptoms due to living in close proximity to each other and an increase of germs and allergens brought into and remaining in their living space compared to at home
- Painters tape and/or push pins to place items on the walls for decorating
- Floor or desk lamps for task functions or for ambiance/atmosphere
- Power/Smart strips ideally with 3-8 ft. cords to plug into the wall.
- Ethernet cable/cord will provide faster and more consistent access to the internet for your computer, gaming system, etc. Our Halls have Wifi, and this can be slow at times when students are connected with 2-4 devices per student at busy times of the day.
- Computer, gaming system, TV, or other devices that you use for schooling and entertainment. We have Xfinity On Campus Streaming for all residents to connect to anywhere on campus.
- Air freshener sprays or plug ins
- Laundry baskets, detergent (liquid or pods), and dryer balls/sheets. When doing laundry it is important to closely follow the instructions on the machines, do not overload with clothes, do not overfill with detergent, stay in the vicinity and set a timer so that you can remove your clothes as soon as the cycle is complete
- Bedding for a Twin XL mattress
- Bicycles can be a helpful way to get around campus and the surrounding ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½. We have indoor and secure book parking available. If you bring an electric bike, scooter, skateboard or any device with a battery, it cannot enter or be stored in the Residence Halls.
- Air conditioning units (if you need AC for a medical accommodation, please connect with Disability Resources)
- Adhesive strips/hooks, wallpaper, string/rope lights, or anything with adhesive to decorate the walls of the room
- Extension cords. Appliances need to be plugged in directly to the wall outlet.
- A wifi router or personal streaming device
- Candles or any fresheners that require heating or burning oils, incense, wax, etc.
- Appliances with open heating elements (oil popcorn maker, toaster, toaster oven, hot plate-burner type, countertop grill, pizza baker/carousel, countertop sandwich maker, broiler, hotplate, etc.) are not allowed in our traditional residence halls
